For this month’s Meet The Team we catch up with Miriam Sotelino Laier, HR Manager – LATAM zone

 

What’s your background within Kersia?

My journey within Kersia started in 2015 being responsible for HR in Brazil. In 2017 I was invited to also oversee HR for Argentina. Soon after, with some acquisitions I had the opportunity to work in Latin America in general, that includes Chile, Peru, Mexico, Jamaica, and others. For 2 years I was also responsible for HR in USA. In parallel, I have worked in some global projects such as the implementation of a global HR tool. Over those years I had the opportunity to learn a lot and to develop myself in general knowledge about culture, law, and countries differences.

 

How would you describe your role in 3 words?

Challenging, involving and dynamic.

 

Talk us through a day in the life of a HR Manager at Kersia.

The day usually begins with checking emails and prioritizing tasks for the day. The HR Manager may have received inquiries from employees, recruitment updates, or requests from other departments that need attention. Throughout the day, the HR Manager collaborates with various departments, addresses employee needs, manages administrative tasks, and ensures the smooth functioning of HR operations at Kersia. But the days for the HR Manager are never the same! Depending on the needs or moments in the year it will requires to be more focused in one or another project, specially to guarantee the global HR policies will be applied in the local subsidiaries. It’s a dynamic role that requires flexibility, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution. In an overview, as an HR Manager we work as business partner with the Country Manager to find the best way to achieve the objectives through people.

 

What would you say to someone considering becoming an HR Manager at Kersia?

As an HR Manager at Kersia you will contribute to Kersia growth at the same time as people growth. You will have the opportunity to be part of a collaborative worldwide team and you will be in contact with the HR Global policies. You will contribute to the strategic planning and alignment of HR practices with the overall goals of the organization.
